Spring Lane Cottage: Doubling living space

Ground Floor

before

after

We transformed this terraced house, while maintaining its period features. The downstairs bathroom was removed to make way for a larger cooking space. With a tiny extension to the floor area, the kitchen and living area has doubled in size. It is now lighter and looks out onto the garden.

First Floor

By removing the fireplace at first floor level in the larger bedroom, we were able to add a shower room at first floor level whilst maintaining a double room. We tweaked walls to make sure that there is storage space in each double bedroom.

The Future

The design makes provision for a future loft conversion that will include a third bedroom with en-suite bathroom. A two up two down terrace becomes a three bedroomed home with two reception rooms.
